Night of Navy Beauty | TGIF Challenges #319

Happy Friday everyone. It's time for a colour combo challenge this week and we are challenging you all to create a project with Night of Navy, Basic Gray and White.

With a combo like this I'd normal go towards creating a mostly white project with touches of the navy and gray but in this case I've made Night of Navy the hero of my project.

How pretty is this Night of Navy patterned paper from the Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper? The lighter shades of Night of Navy in the pattern tie in perfectly with the water coloured butterfly.

To see what the other TGIF Designers have created make sure you check of the TGIF Challenges blog and if you've been inspired by this challenge please share your creations.

Tag Buffet | TGIF Challenge #289

It's Friday and time for another Colour Challenge with the TGIF crew.

This combo of Garden Green, Merry Merlot and Crushed Curry reminds me of Christmas, more specifically my favourite ornaments that used to hang on my grandparents christmas tree, so of course I chose the Tag Buffet stamp set for this project.

Make sure you head to the TGIF Challenge blog to see what the rest of the team have created and why not play along as well. We'd love to see what you create with this combo.

Let's Celebrate You | #TGIFC 271 Colour Challenge

Hello everyone and welcome.
Today I am so very excited to be participating in my very first colour challenge as a designer for the TGIF Challenges Design Team. I am so completely honoured to be asked to be part of this team of incredibly talented designers. So here I go, jumping in head first into a Colour Challenge.

Now if I'm completely honest, I find colour challenges the hardest and on this occasion it took me a while to find my mojo with this combo, but I have to admit I'm really happy the end result. What do you think?

Granny Apple Green, Flirty Flamingo and Mango Melody are such bright, fun colours and really pack a punch on any project however they can also be really pretty softened with a little water colouring. To create this background I started with a piece of Shimmery White cardstock that I lightly swept over with a clean water painter before gently applying the ink, lightly at first and then building up the colour to achieve the desired effect. Then to add an element of interest to the background I added some water splatters which, once dry leaves this splochy look.

Subtle is not usually the first word that comes to mind when you think of a sunflower but the fine detailed lines of the this gorgeous flower from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set gives a soft subtle effect to the background when heat embossed in white. I finished off the card with some simple white die cuts, a heat embossed sentiment, some gold thread and a scatter of sequins.

Thank you for joining me today. Make sure you head over to the TGIF Challenges page to see what the other designers have created with this fun combo and if you feel inspired to play along with the challenge we'd love to see what you create.

Incredible Like You | Just Add Ink #444

Hello and welcome.

Well with my youngest child off to kinder this week I was able to have a little "me" time yesterday morning and I decided to spend the time crafting. For the first time in a few weeks I was able to take a break from my other crafting commitments and just have some fun playing with my supplies. As a starting base I chose to play along with this weeks Just Add Ink colour challenge and this is what I came up with.

The parameters for the Just Add Ink challenge were

I am really loving the combination if soft pinks with Poppy Parade at the moment, and for this challenge I also included some Soft Seafoam.

The background on this card was created with the stripes stamp in the Incredible Like You stamp set. I love that the stripes are all just a little wonky so you don't need to be too perfect when lining them up. The sentiment also came from this same set and of course I've gone with my go-to flowers from my favourite, Jar of Love set.

If you're looking for some colour inspiration this weekend, why not try take up this challenge. For more inspiration head over to the Just Add Ink blog to see what the designers have come up with.

Happy stamping

Feelin' boho for GDP#153

Hello and welcome back.

Today I'm playing along with the Global Design Project colour challenge and have created a project using Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Soft Suede.

There's something about the combo of pink and brown that makes me think "Boho" so the obvious stamp set choice for this challenge was the "Follow Your Dreams" set.

Don't you just love this beautifully detailed dreamcatcher? For this project I  stamped  the dreamcatcher in Soft Suede and I used a combination of Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo to colour the flowers.

In keeping with the "dreamy boho" theme I created a soft watercolour background in Flirty Flamingo and added a little second and third generation stamping and a few white embossed flowers to create some subtle texture.

Lastly, to add a little extra dimension I added another die cut dreamcatcher to the background using the inlaid die cut technique.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you liked my project. Pop over to the Global Design Project blog to see what the designers  have created with this colour combo

Happy crafting
