Be Inspired - Something New

Hello. Well it's been a long time since I've shared something here but I have to say it's lovely to be back participating in the Be Inspired Blog Hop. This month's theme is "Something New" and with a beautiful branch new Annual Catalogue, brimming with branch new Stampin' Up! goodies I had a lot to choose from.

Each time Stampin' Up! releases a new catalogue, I have the pleasure of co-hosting an Online Launch Party with fellow Stampin' Up! demo, Mikaela Titheridge from the UK. During our most recent launch I chose to showcase the Brewed For You stamp set and created this simple card to show how the glass images can be used for beverages other than beer and wine, like an icy cold glass of lemonade, for example.

Next up in the hop is Janneke Dijkstra do Jong. I can't wait to see what their "Something New" is.

2022 January - June Mini Catalogue | Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop

Hi everyone, Welcome to this month's Be Inspired Design Team blog hop. Today the team are sharing projects created with products from the 2022 January - June Mini Catalogue and I decided to feature the Artfully Layered Stamp Set for my hop project today.

I love Artfully Composed Suite colour combo, but for this project I wanted to play with a more playful colour combo. The coloured splotches were created by cutting random shapes out of a piece of vellum that I have used as a mask with Blending Brushes. I then stamped the monstera leaves over the splotches in Tuxedo Black ink and added some extra detail with one of the stamps from the Hello Beautiful stamp set.

Next up in today's hop in my talented friend, Carolynn Sander. I'm sure we are both going to love what she has created to share with us today

Sale-a-bration | Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome to our first Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop for 2022. You are currently visiting Tanya Rees in Bendigo, Australia and if you have been hopping along you would have arrived here via my fellow Australian Be Inspired team mate, Louise Sharp. Wasn't her creation today simply gorgeous? Louise is not often able to join us in our hops so when she does its an absolute delight.

The theme for this months hop is Sale-a-bration! I love this theme because the projects we are sharing today have been created use products that you can receive for FREE with any qualifying order during Sale-a-bration during January & February.

The Sale-a-bration products I decided to feature is the Friendly Hello Stamp Set and Designer Series Paper that can be ordered for FREE with any order of at least $180AUD (excl shipping). What I love about this particular Sale-a-bration or SAB item is that not only do you get a free stamp set but you receive a 12 page pack of co-ordinating Designer Series Paper which means you only need to add some ink and cardstock and you've got a everything you need to make some beautiful cards.
I've gone one step further and used my Blending Brushes, Stampin Blends, some ribbon and a little heat and dry embossing to create my project today.

One of my goals for 2022 is to also add a little detail to the insides of my cards and the additional sentiments and smaller imagery in the stamp set was perfect for this. I really love the "Hello Friend" sentiment in the set but if I'm honest I don't often give out just because cards to my friends but by adding the "Hope you have the Best Birthday" stamp to the inside I was instantly able to change the purpose to a birthday card.

Top tip for creating the background; after you have adding some blending, splatters and stamping, emboss with the Hive 3D Embossing folder and then run the cardstock back through your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine between to pieces of paper to "soften" the emboss effect.

Next up in the hop is Janneke Dijkstra-de Jong. I can't wait to see what stunning creation she has come up with for us.

Sweet Treats | Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop

Hi. It's time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop and this month is all about sweet treats.

While it's only October I'm already thinking about Christmas baking. Each year I like to have my gifts purchased and wrapped by the end of November and then December is all about the the sweet treats like cookies, caramels, cupcakes, fruit cake and gingerbread. However, there's nothing that makes me think of Christmas more than plum pudding.

I can see myself using this cute lil' pudding from the Sweets & Treats stamp set over and over again. The open line image means it's perfect for colouring and even though there is no coordinating die, it really isn't too tricky to fussy cut. When creating this project I wanted to create something that I could recreate in bulk so I've kept the design relatively simple. However, when it came to adding the patterned paper strips to both sides of the centre panel I wasn't happy with the options in my stash of DSP and instead opted to create my own by using the spots mask from the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks and a blending brush to create a Real Red spot pattern.

Next up in the hop is Janneke Dijkstra de Jong. I'm sure she has something stunning to share with us

Cute Critters | Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Be Inspired Design Team blog hop for this month. The theme for this hop is Cute Critters and I have to confess I struggled with this assignment. Stampin' Up! have so many stamp sets that feature cute critters which I love and am often keen to add to my collection but when it comes to using them I find it really difficult to come up with ideas. So in an attempt to work through my creating with critters block I decided to approach the challenge head on and this is what I came up with.

Aren't these little fellas from the Counting Sheep stamp set just the cutest? My family is excitedly waiting for the arrival of my sister's new bub in the next couple of weeks so I decided to go with a baby card and using a bit of paper piecing and the gingham paper from the Pansy Petal DSP I ended up with a trio of sheep that almost seem like soft toys.

Next up in the hop the super talented Janneke Dijkstra de Jong. I always love seeing Janneke's creations so I'm certain she has created something gorgeous to share with us.

Flowers | Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome back. Today I'm participating in the Be Inspired Team Blog Hop and this month's theme is "Flowers". I love this theme and when it comes to flowers and Stampin' Up! we are spoilt for choice and with the new Annual Catalogue just around the corner I thought I'd share a project created with a new flower stamp set, Pansy Patch.

I really enjoyed inking up this stamp set for the first time and think you'll be seeing a lot more created with these images as well as the coordinating Pansy Dies. Next up in the hop is my talented friend Janneke Ditjkstra-de Jong, I can't wait to see what floral creation she has created for us.

Large Sentiment | Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop

Good evening and welcome back to my blog. Today I'm so please to be participating in the Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop, it's been a while between hops and I'm glad to be hopping with the team again. This month's theme is Large Sentiments and I have taken advantage of this theme to have a go at an outlined words technique that Melody Hyde shared earlier this year. (Check out Melody's tutorial on her Instagram video here.)

I've also drawn inspiration for the colour scheme and imagery from a card Cindy Schuster shared as part of The Crafty Carrot Collective Birthday Celebration (see the original card here). The moment I saw the card Cindy had created I knew I had to CASE for a baby card. Thanks for the inspiration Cindy.

Next up in the hop is my beautiful friend, Carolynn Sander . I'm excited to see what Large Sentiment she has incorporated in her card.

CASE Yourself | Be Inspired Blog Hop

Hello everyone and welcome to my last blog post for 2020 and this month's Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop. Today's blog hop theme is CASE Yourself and for this time of year, when everyone is getting over the busyness of Christmas, it's the perfect theme. For anyone who is new here CASE stands for Copy And Selectively Edit and it refers to when you take a  project previous created by yourself or another designer and create a your own different version of it. For me CASEing is a great creative go-to when my mojo is lacking or when I'm playing with new products, which is the case with this project.

As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator I am able to preorder products from upcoming catalogues and at the beginning of December I ordered a selection of products from the new January - June Mini Catalogue. However due to delivery delays and pre Christmas preparations the box has sat virtually untouched so of course I had to unbox a few of my new goodies for today's project. But before I share the details of this card here is the project I chose to CASE.

As you can see I have chosen to CASE the layout and elements of this card using a different colour palette, different Designer Series Paper and some floral images in place of the boats. A funny thing to note is that this card that I created a couple of years ago was actually a CASE of a project in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

Getting back to the project I created for today's blog hop, I've used a few new products from the Jan - June Mini Catalogue starting with the Pretty Perennials stamp set and coordinating Perennial Petals Dies to create this arrangement of flowers. The DSP banner is one of the gorgeous patterns from the Flower & Field Designer Series Paper pack which is one of the exclusive free product available in the Sale-A-Bration promotion and the sweet "a little note..." sentiment is from the Enjoy The Moment stamp set.

Now that my creative juices have starting flowing again and I have a box of new goodies screaming out to be played with I'm going to sign off, but don't go anywhere as the rest of the Be Inspired Design Team have also been busy CASEing themselves so make sure you check them out, starting with my lovely friend, Janneke Dijkstra de-Jong.

Punch It Out | Be Inspired Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome. Here we are again, getting towards the end of another month and time for the Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop. Is it just me, or is this year just flying along? This month the Be Inspired team are playing with punches and when it comes to punches my absolute favourite go-to is without a doubt the Medium Daisy punch.

Given the focus of this card was to use punches I wanted the daisies to be the focal point and kept the rest of the card fairly simple. The sentiment panel is actually a card from the Flowers for Every Season Memories & More card pack. The teeny tiny daisies tie in with the larger flowers and I love the bright pop of Magenta Madness in the sentiment. I added some texture to the Misty Moonlight background by embossing it with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder.

One of the things I love about the Medium Daisy punch is that the daisies can easily be punch out of plain cardstock and still look great, however to add a little extra detail I chose to stamp and heat emboss the daisies in white with the Daisy Lane stamp set. I also added some Just Jade leaves from the Sunflower Dies.

Thanks for joining me today Next up in the hop is my lovely friend Janneke Dijkstra de Jong. I can wait to see what she has "punched out" for us.

Sunshine & Happiness | Be Inspired Blog Hop

Hello everyone. Wow!! I can't believe it's already the last Wednesday of the month and time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop. This month's theme is Sunshine & Happiness and, Boy, do we need some sunshine and happiness is the world right now.

When I think of sunshine, bright yellows always come to mind and my happy colour is pink so I immediately knew I had to include this gorgeous striped pattern from the Flowers For Season Designer Series Paper in this design. With such a busy background I wanted to keep the rest of the card fairly simple with the word "Sunshine" die cut with the Playful Alphabet Dies and a sun created with  medallion from the North Pole Wonder dies.

What do think? I'm sure receiving this card in the mail would bring some sunshine to someone's day. Next up in the hop is my talented friend Janneke Dijkstra de Jong with another bright and happy project for you.

Thanks for joining me today

Something New | Be Inspired Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome to another Be Inspired Design Team blog hop.
This month's theme is "Something New" and with a brand new Stampin' Up! catalogue bursting with new products this theme is perfectly timed. However, I have decided to not only feature a new stamp set and new in-color in my project but I think the style of card is something a little different or "new" to what I would normally create.

I just love this feather image from the Tasteful Touches stamp set and for this card I was inspired by the TGIF Challenge team to create my own  have used the embossed resist technique with Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and one of the new 2020-2022 In-Colors, Magenta Madness sponging over the white embossed image.

With such a bold background I decided to keep the other elements fairly simple with another feather embossed on vellum and some gold thread.

Next up in the hop is Janneke. I'm sure she has something amazing to share with us.

Thanks for joining me today

All Shapes & Sizes | Be Inspired Blog Hop

Hello everyone. Welcome to another blog hop with the Be Inspired Design Team. This month we are sharing cards of all different shapes and sizes.

When creating cards I usually find myself creating a standard sized card, which here in Australia is created from half an A4. But for today's challenge I chose to go with something tall and skinny (or long and skinny for my second card)

When creating my first card I was inspired by the current sketch challenge from the Global Design Project, however since my card was taller than a standard card I chose to had more stripes to the background and create a pretty rainbow effect.

Once I'd finished my first card I still had leftover strips of cardstock so I figured I'd make another card, similar yet different. I stuck to the same spectrum of colours and the same sentiment and flowers from the Birthday Jubilee Stamp Set as the first card, however this time I used the border die from the Jubilee Beauty Dies to create a lattice/lace look background. I have to admit this particular background was a tad fiddly to create but the end result was so worth it, don't you think?

That's all I have to share with you today but the rest of the team are sure to have more inspiration for cards of all shapes and sizes. To check them out start with Janneke Dijkstra de Jong by click on the next button below and follow along until you arrive back here at my blog. If you get lost along the way there is a list of all the blog hop participants at the end of this post.

Take care and stay crafty
