Sketch Challenge | TGIF Challenges #376

 Whoop whoop! It's Friday and I'm excited to be back playing with the TGIF Challenges team. This weeks challenge is a sketch challenge and this sketch is a super fun one.

Have you heard its Sale-a-bration time again? It's that time of year where for every $90AUD / $180AUD you spend on Stampin' Up! product, you receive a free product of your choice from a range of exclusive Sale-a-bration (SAB) products. I have chosen to use two of the exclusive SAB products to create this fun card today, the Hippest Hippos Stamp Set and coordinating Hippo Dies.

Aren't these little guys just the cutest!!! When colouring my two hippos I used a tip from fellow demonstrator Patty Bennett, to first colour the hippo with a Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blend and then go over with a Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blend to get the perfect hippo-gray shade.

Sketch Challenge | TGIF Challenges #355

Happy Friday everyone. Time for another TGIF Challenges sketch challenge and the team has a sweet little sketch for your all just in time for Valentines Day.

Valentine's Day was the first occasion I thought of when I saw this sketch but not everyone celebrates Valentine's so I decided to create a Thank you card instead.  

 I love the simplicity of this sketch and wanted to carry the simple design through to my project. You may have noticed that there's no stamping, DSP, or embellishments on my card, instead I've used die cutting, paper piecing and scoring to add detail and texture.

Sketch Challenge | TGIF Challenges #333

 

Woohoo! It's Friday and and time for another TGIF Challenges sketch challenge for you to play along with. Being the 333rd challenge for TGIF Challenges it seemed only fitting that the sketch feature something to do with the number 3.

And here is my take on the sketch. Sticking with the bold stripes in the background I went with a bright Daffodil Delight and Basic White stripes as a base. When creating the Dahlia focal point for the card I stamped both the flowers and leaves from the Delicate Dahlias stamp set in Polished Pink and Granny Apple Green respectively and then coloured the images with Stampin' Blends in the light shade of each colour, which resulted in a tone on tone effect.

Happy Friday everyone. It's time for another TGIF Challenge and this week it's a sketch challenge. I know I've mentioned before that I love a sketch challenge and this one is no exception. 

The stripes in the background on this sketch had me thinking of a playful kids birthday card so I took the opportunity to ink up one of my new stamp sets, Party Puffins.

Don't you just love these cute lil' puffins? With a little guy in his first year of school this year, our weekends are often busy with birthday parties so a stash of cards featuring this festive fluffy friends will come in handy over the next few months.

A Berry Delightful Sketch | TGIF Challenge #303

 Hello everyone. Wow!! I knew it had been a while but I've just realised that its been over a month since I've last posted. We've been very busy in our house with school holiday fun, camping trips and preparing to return to school. The kids have all been back almost two weeks now and are loving it. Let's hope their school year isn't interrupted with lockdowns and remote learning this year. All that aside I'm delighted to be back sharing my creations with you all and what better way to start than a TFIG Challenge.

This weeks challenge is a sketch challenge, my favourite type of challenge and this sketch is a great one.

And here is my take on the sketch.

The minute I saw the bright berry imagery and plaid/gingham patterns in the Berry Delightful DSP in the 2021 Sale-A-Bration promotion I knew I had to have it in my collection. The DSP and the Berry Blessings stamp set that it's paired with coordinate perfectly with the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and Strawberry Builder punch but for this particular project I used my Paper Snips to fussy cut the images from the DSP.

Festive Flowers | #TGIFC 281 Sketch Challenge

Ooops!! I have a confession to make. I thought I was so organised with my TGIF challenge project this week and then realised last night that I forgot my blog post. So here it is, just a couple of days late. This week the TGIF challenge is a sketch challenge and I love this sketch.

The rectangle detail in this sketch immediately inspired me to use panels of DSP as the focal point and I have been looking for a way to use this gorgeous poinsettia pattern from the Flowers For Every Season DSP pack. To add some extra detail I've die cut the panels with the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

As you can see I've played with the sketch a little and flipped it, and then added a simple sentiment panel and a little metallic edge ribbon. By keeping this card simple it is a great design to recreate in bulk for Christmas.

Gingham Christmas | #TGIFC 277 Sketch Challenge

 

Whoop whoop!!! It's Friday again and I'm back playing along with another TGIF Challenge. This weeks challenge is a sketch challenge.

And here is my take on the sketch

When creating this card I used the scallop dies from the Budding Blooms Dies to create two scalloped slits and then die cut the word "Happy" in the centre with the Playful Alphabet Dies. Initially wanted to insert a Magenta Madness water coloured panel beneath the "Happy", but try as I might I just could make the concept work and instead I substituted the water colour panel with a piece of gingham patterned DSP from the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper pack. I then added a bauble and holly sprig from the Tag Buffet Stamp Set and the word "Christmas" from Peace & Joy. I think my favourite parts of this card, though, is the pops of Magenta Madness, don't they look great with the Mossy Meadow and Whisper White?

Just Because | Be Inspired Blog Hop

Hello everyone and welcome to another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop. You are currently visiting Tanya Rees in Central Victoria, Australia. Who doesn't love getting happy mail! I once heard a fellow Stampin' Up! demo say "A card is a hug with a fold in the middle" and while its great to receive cards on your birthday and Christmas, finding an unexpected "Just Because" card in your mail box really is like receiving a hug in the mail. 

I've had the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and coordinating dies sitting on my shelf for a couple months now and just haven't had a chance to play with them, so they were to obvious starting point for this project. I also wanted my Happy Mail project to be bright. I had a special person in mind for this card and when I think of her, I think of bright colours so I've gone with a combo of Melon Mambo, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green and Night of Navy. 

I did, however, encounter one small problem when putting together my card. I had envisioned Night of Navy and White stripes behind the cluster of flowers and sentiment panel and had my mind set on using this stripe pattern from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper pack, but since it has been my favourite pattern in the pack (I always have one fav) I didn't have a large enough panel to fill the card front. After trying (and ditching) other alternatives, When I turned to Instagram for some inspiration I came across a few projects by the Just Add Ink Design Team and their sketch challenge this week solved the problem for me. Following the sketch below I was managed to cut what DSP I had left into some strips and layered them on the card front with a small gap in between each one.

Well that is it for me. I best be off to the post office to send this "hug" to a very special person. I hope I've inspired you to create and send some happy mail yourself. Next up in the hop is Janneke de Jong with a super special project.

One Sketch. Two Cards | Let's Get Hopping #21

Hello and welcome back to another Let's Get Hopping Blog Hop. This months challenge was to select a one sketch and create two projects and here is what I came up with.

This week I had two people that I wanted to create a card for, but time at my craft desk was limited, so the challenge of creating two cards from the one sketch made it easy to create to two different cards. Following a sketch is always a great way to kick start the design process of a card and as you can see above, a good sketch can be used over and over again to create unique projects

The sketch that inspired the layout of these two cards is this weeks challenge sketch from the TGIF Challenge Blog (#TGIFC216)

The first project I created with the sketch uses imagery from the Mosaic Mood Speciality Designer Series Paper. This beautiful patterned paper features a shiny textured finish on one side of each page and the hummingbirds on one of the designs are perfect for fussy cutting.

For my second project I stepped it up little. The banner section was created using the tile pattern stamped from the Verdant Garden, stamp set. The flower embellishments came from the Botanical Bliss stamp set and coordinating Botanical Tags dies. When creating the background I used an Alcohol Dip technique that I picked up from the fabulous Krista Frattin of Stampin' Dolce fame
